  1. I was never a "Vicki Christina Barcelona" fan, so that colored my judgment against Penelope Cruz. Plus she once dated Tom Cruise, which makes me wonder about her all together! (j/k). I thought Amy Adams was terrific (and liked Doubt a lot more than you), so she got my vote.

I would have voted for Meryl (you know I have a woman-crush on her, but that's not why), because she once again proved this year she has incredible, flawless range (this year it was "Doubt" and "Mama Mia," before this "The Devil Wears Prada" and "A Prairie Home Companion." I think BECAUSE she's so good, people expect more of her than other actors. Kate Winslet is a terrific actor, but I don't see her extending the range of roles she takes. (And, btw, I absolutely loved Angelina Jolie in "Changeling.")

I was a huge "Slumdog" fan so would have voted for it, along with Health - what a tragic loss of a person and a huge talent. Although I liked "Kung Fu Panda," I think WALL-E is a classic.

And I think it's a shame that movies like "The Dark Knight" and "Ironman" are ignored by the Oscars, as are comedies for the most part. The movies are, after all, there to entertain.

  2. BTW, thanks for fixing the blog, Google - or whoever runs this thing - so I could post this. I'm sure the rest of the world was frustrated with not being able to see my incredible, insightful reply. : )
