Coming soon...

...to a blog near you:

I'm back in Michigan for the holidays, which has me thinking of the differences (and similarities) of Michigan and California. Also what I like and dislike about each place.

I'm enjoying my time home right now, but will post my thoughts on this subject once I return to CA.

Happy New Year everyone!

Femi-Nazis

First topic:

Is Meg an Uber-Feminist?

Probably not uber, but I am definately a feminist. As I like to say, feminism isn't being anything other than standing up for the equal rights of everyone. I still don't believe women are treated equally in the workplace, media, everyday life, or sometimes even by loved ones. A lot of this has to do with tradition.

I am all for other people opening doors for me, but who says it is only the guys' job? I think it is polite for anyone who is there first to open the door for the other person. I am not allowed to lift "heavy" things at work because I could get hurt. And I am not saying that it is rude for others to do these things out of kindness. The underlying/unspoken message behind it is what bothers me and the fact that other people don't recognize it.

Another problem I have is with commercials. You know, where the woman are angry that their husbands never do anything but watch football and they are stuck going to the store or using Tide. Or the ones I hate even more are when the mom goes out of town and suddenly the dad is at a loss at how to make a meal "like mom does" for the kids. This is not the way it is anymore. Both my parents are capable of doing laundry and cooking me dinner.

So, I guess I would just like everyone to think about how they act and treat everyone with the same amount of respect. Ciao amigos.

Creation

This blog was concocted in the kitchen at my work as a way to explain myself to the world. Hopefully this blog will help you all understand the inter-workings of my brain.

I will pick a new topic every week or so about my life and we'll see what everyone thinks.
